WHAT IS WRONG WITH COLORADO REPUBLICANS?
I recently received a letter of complaint regarding the Country Citizen newsletter. It was unsigned, name and address blotted out and postmark unclear. So, I was unable to respond personally to the writer which I believe was her intention. People who don’t want to dialog or hear anything that contradicts their way of thinking are willing to vent their poison as long as they don’t have to own it. Generally, I would just throw away any unsigned complaint believing that if you aren’t brave enough to sign it, you must not be confident that you are right. But this letter provided some interesting insight into the mind of an Eastern Colorado Republican that needs to be explored.
The following is the original letter of this anonymous person. I was going to type it out for more clarity but I would have had to use too many (sic)s.
Please note that this woman is a “lifelong (sic) republican”(sic). This is the first problem. It seems that not only is the Democratic Party split, but as we saw with the election of Speaker, so is the Republican Party.
The next thing I would like to bring up is the accusation that Pres. Trump committed treason on Jan 6th. Treason is the only crime specifically defined in the Constitution and is constitutionally defined as “levying war against the U.S. or adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort, which requires an actual state of war and a more direct attack on the nation's sovereignty. Even though Democrats have tried to eliminate Pres. Trump, he has not been charged with or convicted of treason and I believe we are still operating on the legal presumption that one is innocent before proven guilty.
Unfortunately, the political environment these days has everyone calling names and accusing others of treason, both Democrats and Republicans. No one seems to fear the charge of treason except the founding fathers. They had come from Great Britain that had a legacy of suppressing dissidents.

Beginning in the late thirteenth century, the convicted traitor was dragged along the ground by a horse to the place of execution, partially hanged, disemboweled, and castrated. Only then would he be decapitated, and his body cut into quarters and displayed for the public. This punishment was not formally abolished in Great Britain until 1870. Why are we so eager for blood?
Thirdly, this woman is wishing an assassination upon Pres. Trump. This is considered a felony

charge. Maybe she did well not to sign her confession, but unfortunately it is the season of not only wishing but doing assassinations.
She accuses us of being MAGA women because….? I don’t even own a MAGA hat! I am simply a Christian citizen who stands up against lies, careless words and lack of decency. I am presently a registered Republican which doesn’t mean much because I am first of all a citizen of Heaven.
Wow! I can’t imagine why we would think that many of the illegal immigrants are violent. Guess she only follows the Democratic Party’s news stations. Please remember, if you break a law, you are illegal and what does that have to do with being Native American? My ancestors were Native American!
Well, she finally gets around to calling us ignorant and suggesting we acquire an old history book that would have been around in 1955 when I was 9 years old. I remember all those history books and they didn’t include anything about the accomplishments of African Americans, Mexican Americans, Chinese Americans or women. In fact, they didn’t have anything about black lynching, civil rights movement, segregated schools, or racist presidents. I loved history but unfortunately wasn’t told the whole story.
I had to find that out in college, where I majored in history, and by living life in America. Another writer for CountryCitizens is a history major, too. We read and study regularly. We don’t imply that we know it all, but we endeavor every day to expand our knowledge and understanding of current events, politics, history and Christian living.
When I read this letter, I understand why Republicans, Democrats and even our society is in such a confused state. We are quick to judge others without searching for the truth. We are quick to demand punishment without considering the legal process. We speak death on others without considering the effect our words have on other impressionable people. We are so convinced that we are right that we refuse to consider the merits of others. We criticize and name call people in positions to which we can never aspire. People without love for others and unable to imagine what “walk a mile in my shoes” means.
It's a good thing that Jesus will be the final judge. He knows the heart of all men and women and will judge righteously.

But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak.
